What is MAC?


The Multicultural Assessment Conference (MAC) is designed to educate psychologists and all clinical professionals on the art of clinical assessment. MAC will offer multiple virtual workshops on a range of topics to include, but not limited to the following: culturally competent assessment measures, the implications of cultural diversity in assessment (e.g., race, ethnicity, SES, religion, trans health needs, sexual orientation), the unique presentation of various disorders in culturally diverse children and adults, and the business of psychological assessment.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

The Multicultural Assessment Conference will educate psychologists and all clinical professionals on the art of culturally competent clinical assessment. All sessions will be virtual, so participants can attend from any location. For attendees in the DC Metro area, there will be a free reception on Friday, October 14th.

This activity is being co-sponsored by The Maryland Psychological Association, The Maryland Psychological Association Foundation and the Multicultural Assessment Community (MAC). The Maryland Psychological Association is approved by the American Psychological Association to offer continuing education for psychologists. The Maryland Psychological Association maintains responsibility for the program and its content.​

Students should also attend. Limited scholarships are available.​

Dr. Tanisha Drummond

Dr. Tanisha Drummond is a Board-Certified Child and Adolescent Psychologist, who specializes in psychological assessments for children, adolescents, and young adults. She has worked in a variety of settings, including outpatient clinics, schools, and hospitals, which has helped her develop knowledge and expertise of issues that children and adolescents often encounter.

Dr. Shalena Heard

Dr. Shalena Heard is a licensed psychologist in the state of Maryland and certified as a National Health Service Psychologist and Approved Clinical Supervisor. She is a native of Philadelphia, PA and a proud first generation college student. Dr. Heard has extensive experience providing therapy and psychological assessment services to children, adolescents, and adults within inpatient, residential, outpatient, and school settings.

Dr. Linda McGhee

Dr. Linda Fleming McGhee is a practicing clinical psychologist who speaks and writes nationally on mental health and education.  She received her psychology doctorate from George Washington University and a law degree from GWU. She was a practicing attorney for a number of years. She is the founder of McGhee & Associates in Chevy Chase Maryland and specializes in therapy for adolescents and young adults, assessments for learning differences, and educational consulting.
